AUSTRIA: 4 weeks in prison for being unvaccinated
The 1930s called. They want their fascism back.
-Starting in February 2022, 4 weeks in prison or a €3,600 fine are likely if you’re unvaccinated in Austria. (The government’s still working out the details; those are penalties from a draft bill for health professionals that may be applied to the whole country.)
It’s hard to overstate just how late 1930s this is. Already, Austrians are having their medical papers checked on the streets and there is now an “underclass” of people who are being dehumanized in a very alarming manner via media coverage and by politicians. This is happening at a very fast rate. This is despite the fact that vaccinated people can contract and transmit the virus, too (“breakthrough” cases).
Remember, until recently only the Mengeles of the world thought it was acceptable to forcibly inject people with something against their will. Basic bodily autonomy – the right to decline medical interventions that are not without risk – was a very mainstream, normal position. Not anymore. (Did we ever have a campaign like this for the flu shot?)
There are many unanswered questions about Austria’s new forced vaccination regime. What happens after the unvaxxed pay their fine or go to jail? Will needles be stuck in their arms?
Also, what started out in Austria as a lockdown only of unvaccinated people just a few days ago has now quickly morphed into a full-on 2020-style lockdown of everyone. Prediction: like every other lockdown, it won’t work. But who will there be to blame in February when the whole population’s been forcibly injected and/or the unvaccinated are in prison?
-The Washington Post recently ran two articles on pro-life efforts in Texas. One is about an evangelical woman who is building a maternity ranch, which the article makes clear is nothing like the “homes for unwed mothers” of the 1950s, and the other is about a Catholic woman who distributes tons of free diapers and baby clothes. Meltdowns about how “this is literally Gilead from The Handmaid’s Tale” (it’s not) aside – and outrage that a liberal publication like the Post would paint pro-lifers in such a good light – there’s an interesting difference between the two articles. The one about the maternity ranch is about “pregnant women” (see partial screenshot below) while the other features a headline about pregnant “people.”
The “pregnant people” article (see its headline above) goes on to use the phrase “pregnant women” and “women” in the context of childbearing.

Nothing to worry about. Also, a person in Maryland had the second case of monkeypox in the U.S. this year.
-The FDA has asked a federal judge to grant it until the year 2076 to fully release Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine data. This will do wonders for public trust in the government and Big Pharma. (Reuters headline: Wait what? FDA wants 55 years to process FOIA request over vaccine data)
-A story in two parts:
-The “Vows” section of the New York Times now includes the vaccination and mask status of wedding guests. Will they start publishing the guests’ sexual histories, disabilities, and other health records, too? Thankfully, we know through these wedding announcements that the dirty, unvaxxed guests wore masks. What’s shocking is that they were even invited.
-This is the governor of Oregon. Imagine showing this to someone in 2019 and trying to explain that this is actually very normal and not some sort of Halloween costume.
-Finally, “science”:
(It’s not about science. It never was. It’s about punishing noncompliance.)
